Get the Body Reset Guide

Five practical frameworks for resetting your metabolism, energy, and daily movement. Paul sends it straight to your inbox — no spam, unsubscribe anytime.

The Framework

Five pillars. One integrated system.

Most fitness programs target one variable — and fail because the others collapse around it. This approach works because it treats your health as a system, not a set of isolated problems.

01

Metabolic Foundation

Most fatigue, weight resistance, and slow recovery trace back to a metabolism running on fumes. Fix the engine first.

02

Movement & Strength

Functional patterns — carry, climb, reach, recover. Built for how your body actually needs to perform, not aesthetics.

03

Nutrition

Food that fuels healing and energy — practical, not prescriptive. Guided grocery decisions, not another rigid plan to abandon.

04

Mindset & Responsibility

The mental patterns that undercut physical progress are just as real as weak glutes. Addressed head-on, not around.

05

Gut–Brain Axis

90% of serotonin lives in your gut. Digestion, inflammation, and cognition are linked. What you heal in the gut shows up in the mind.

What to Expect

The path from first session
to lasting change

No 12-week transformations. No dramatic before-and-afters. This is a timeline that actually holds.

Day 0 — Free

The Intro Conversation

30 minutes, no pressure, no script. You tell me what's going on in your life, your body, and what you've tried. I ask real questions. By the end you'll know whether this makes sense for you.

No commitment Honest fit assessment
Session 1 — Movement baseline

Assessment & Starting Point

Full movement screen. What are you compensating for? Where are you strong, where are you restricted? This shapes everything that follows — the first session is not a workout, it's a map.

Functional movement screen Pain / restriction inventory Lifestyle inputs
Weeks 1–4 — Building the base

Program Design & Early Training

Movement patterns targeted to your life. We're building neural pathways and rebuilding the basic movements most people have lost. Progress is measured in how you feel doing everyday things — not in numbers lifted.

Custom movement plan Foundational patterns Lifestyle habit stack begins
Month 2–3 — Compound gains

Loading & Progression

The patterns are in place. Now we load them. Strength, capacity, and energy compound. The gut-brain and nutrition work starts to show. Clients report sleeping better, moving without pain, and noticing it in their actual daily life.

Progressive overload Nutrition integration Metabolic improvements
Month 4+ — Ongoing & self-sustaining

Independent & Evolving

You're no longer dependent on structured coaching to stay active. The habits run themselves. Sessions shift from building to refining — new goals, new terrain. The system you built becomes the life you live.

Why Green Eye Open

I grew up hanging around and helping out at my family's health food store — learning early that real healing is personal, not prescribed. That foundation, paired with NCSF certification and years of functional training, shapes everything I bring to each session. This isn't a program you follow. It's a partnership built around your life — if that distinction matters to you, you're in the right place.

About Paul

A functional fitness specialist who trains you for the life you actually live.

I'm Paul Gover, NCSF-certified functional fitness specialist. I train people for their lives — not for competitions, not for aesthetics, not for the gym. My approach starts with one question: what does your body need to do in daily life, and what's stopping it from doing that well?

I've worked with people rebuilding after injury, managing chronic pain, navigating recovery from addiction, and anyone exhausted by a fitness culture that ignores real life. Functional fitness isn't a trend — it's the original human way to move. Carry things. Climb things. Play with your kids. Get off the floor without thinking about it. Every service I offer is functional fitness applied to a different dimension of your life.

The Green Eye Open Approach

Training for the life you actually live

Functional fitness isn't a trend or a brand. It's the philosophy that every service here is built on: train for the life you're living, not the one that looks good on Instagram. Strong enough to carry, flexible enough to reach, resilient enough to keep going.

Built for real life, not the gym

The movements that matter: carrying, climbing, reaching, recovering. Every session targets what your actual life demands — not aesthetic goals or competition records. A body that performs reliably in ordinary moments.

Every service is functional fitness

The trail walks, the grocery shopping, the mindset work — they're all functional fitness applied to a different area of your life. A body that functions well is built from movement AND what you eat AND how you think. None of it is optional.

Where plants and movement meet

For thousands of years — from ancient Greek athletes using herbal remedies to Ayurveda pairing daily movement with plant medicine — these disciplines were never separated. Modern research confirms what ancient healers knew: people combining regular exercise with whole-food plant nutrition live 12–14 years longer on average (NIH, 2018), and physical activity alone cuts the risk of premature death by up to 30% (WHO). That whole-person integration — body and nature together — is where this approach comes from.

"We don't train athletes. We train humans."

What I Offer

Ways to work together

Six ways to apply functional fitness to your life — from your movement to your meals to your mindset. Every offering is fully personalized around your body, your history, and what you're actually trying to do.

Functional Fitness Training

One-on-one sessions focused on real-world strength. Built around your body's needs, not a template. Every progression is designed to transfer directly to how you actually move and live.

Mobile sessions at your home, the Y, or city parks — wherever works best for your schedule.

Full movement assessment at the start so we know exactly where you're starting from.

Structured progressions that adapt as you build strength and capability.

Lifestyle Design

The bigger picture. Nutrition, habits, and mindset built around how you actually live—not another perfect plan you'll abandon. The framework that makes physical training stick long-term.

Nutrition guidance that's practical, not prescriptive — food that fuels healing and sustainment.

Mindset work that addresses the mental patterns that get in the way of physical progress.

Ongoing support and accountability — regular check-ins to keep you on track and adjust as needed.

Rehab Training

Restoring your functional capacity after injury or surgery. Not just "getting back to baseline" — rebuilding the strength, mobility, and confidence you need to live without restriction. Safe, gradual, always coordinated with your care team.

Programs built around your specific injury, surgery, or limitation — always coordinated with your care team.

Gradual progressions that rebuild confidence alongside physical capacity.

Available at home, the Y, or a comfortable outdoor setting — wherever recovery feels best.

Shopping Assistance

Functional nutrition — food as fuel for the life you're actually living. Not a diet. Not a meal plan you'll abandon in two weeks. A guided walkthrough of how to eat in a way that supports your movement, energy, and recovery every single day.

In-store walkthroughs of your local grocery store with real-time label education.

Practical meal planning — flexible, not prescriptive, built around what you actually eat.

Food choices that fuel long-term healing and energy — without obsession or restriction.

Mental Health Trail Walks

Walking is the most fundamental functional movement there is — and one of the most powerful tools for mental health. These guided trail walks weave together movement, mindset, and nature to reset your nervous system and rebuild your relationship with your body.

Gentle walks through local parks and trails — paced entirely to you, no fitness pressure.

Conversation, breathing techniques, and mindset tools woven in naturally as you move.

Ideal for managing anxiety, burnout, or anyone rebuilding a relationship with their body.

Nature-Based Fitness

The original functional fitness — moving the way humans were designed to, in the environment we evolved in. No machines. No mirrors. Purposeful movement through real terrain that challenges your body the way daily life actually does.

Functional movements using bodyweight and the natural terrain — no equipment required.

City parks, trails, and green spaces in the Milwaukee area — rain, shine, or somewhere in between.

A complete mind-body reset — grounding and movement working together for whole-person wellness.

Who It's For

Train for your life. Not the weight room.

You don't need to deadlift 300 lbs. You need to pick up your kid without your back giving out. You need to carry groceries without bracing yourself. You need to wake up and not immediately take inventory of what hurts. If you're tired of workouts that don't translate to how you actually live — this is functional fitness, and it's built for you.

  • Recovering from injury or surgery and ready to rebuild properly
  • Someone in recovery — rebuilding body and habits after damage from past choices
  • Burned out by the gym grind that doesn't fit your actual life
  • Wanting to build sustainable habits that don't require willpower to maintain
  • Tired of workouts that don't translate to how you actually live your daily life

Functional fitness isn't about peak performance. It's about your life performing better — the carries, the climbs, the mornings, the moments that actually matter.

here's what people ask.

See all FAQs

Yes — that's exactly who functional fitness is built for. "Out of shape" isn't a disqualifier; it's just where you're starting. Paul meets you where you are, not where some fitness ideal thinks you should be. Most clients come in with years away from movement, nagging injuries, and a lot of life that got in the way. That's the starting point, not the obstacle.

A 30-minute conversation — relaxed, no clipboard, no pressure. Paul does a brief movement screen, talks through where you are and what you want, and figures out together whether this is a fit. You leave knowing exactly what working together looks like. No contract, no commitment. Book your free intro here →

A gym membership is access to equipment. This is 1-on-1 sessions designed around your body, your goals, and your life — with lifestyle design and nutrition guidance built in. Paul comes to you throughout Rock County. You're not paying for a building to exist. You're paying for someone to think about you specifically.

Rehab training is a core part of what Paul does, not an afterthought. Every client completes a PAR-Q at intake. If you're under PT or physician care, Paul coordinates with them. The goal is always to restore function, not push through damage. Injuries are a reason to train smarter, not to skip training.

Janesville, WI and surrounding Rock County. Outdoor sessions at parks and trails; indoor available depending on goals and weather. Paul comes to you — your neighborhood, your preferred park, wherever makes sense. The session adapts to where you are.
